"Creating Pathways to Sustainable Success", for our communities and in our communities
Kwantlen Polytechnic University is pleased to partner with community in delivering a range of transformative programs
Phoenix Kwantlen Learning Centre (PKLC)
The Phoenix-Kwantlen Learning Centre empowers adult learners to engage in upgrading their education through individualized assessment and action planning that include lifelong learning goals. The centre provides community-based instruction in English and math from basic literacy level through Grade 11. It also helps adult learners move on to Kwantlen Polytechnic University's campus or to other formal educational settings.
Community Adult Literacy Programs (CALP)
Literacy is defined as the ability to understand and use printed material in daily activities – at home, in the community and at work. Non-profit agencies are partnering with KPU experts to deliver programs across the South Fraser Region to ensure adult newcomers to Canada (live-in caregivers, families, refugees and other high-needs clients) can improve their quality of life, earn sufficient income, participate in their children’s education, understand current events, and enjoy leisure and recreational pursuits. Come join a CALP program near you - in Surrey, Richmond or Langley!
Third Age Learning at Kwantlen (TALK)
Adults over 50 can broaden their horizons with creative and stimulating educational activities. No tests, no grades - just a lively learning experience! TALK is a participatory learning experience with no quizzes, grades or prerequisites. The learning process is lively, full of discussion, controversy, humour, insight and wisdom. TALK prides itself on providing a variety of course options such as Science, Health & Wellness, Arts & Culture, History, Travel and more!
Tsawwassen First Nation - English Upgrading Classes
KPU Academic and Career Preparation Faculty provide English Upgrading courses on Tsawwassen First Nation. Adult members of Tsawwassen First nation who would like to improve reading, writing, and critical thinking; earn a BC Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood); and/or develop essential English skills needed for employment or to further their education are welcome to participate.
