Science Rendezvous took place May 13, and KPU Langley played host to the annual science festival that is held in locations across Canada. The three-hour event transformed the campus into a science festival of experiments, demonstrations, and activities.

“Through fun and inspiring experiments and demonstrations, KPU is able to show visitors how science shapes our daily lives. We hope experiences such as these encourage more young people to pursue science and engineering study paths,” says Brett Favaro, dean of KPU’s Faculty of Science.

The focus of the family-friendly event is to increase scientific literacy, spark curiosity, and allow youth to get a taste of science programs at KPU.

Participants were invited to identify DNA in strawberries, make slime and bath bombs, solve mathematics puzzles, watch a dancing flame show, make crafts, and participate in a science scavenger hunt. The KPU Brew Lab also opened its doors for tours and tastings.

Science Rendezvous is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing research and science experiences to the public. The festival happens during Science Odyssey, a national campaign from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) that celebrates Canadian achievements in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
