Registration dates and times are normally published approximately three weeks in advance to the registration period. A notification email will be sent when they are published, so ensure that you are checking your KPU email frequently.
Before your scheduled registration date and time, you will see the message in RED: Image

The start date and time is the first date and time you are able to access Register for Classes. The end date and time is the last date you can access Register for Classes for the term. Please note that the deadlines to add, drop and withdraw follow the published Dates and Deadlines.
I have a hold. What does it mean?
The following are the holds messages that you may see on you account.
Hold | What it means | How to remove the hold |
---|---|---|
Accounting Hold | If you have an outstanding balance owing after the fee payment deadline, an Accounting Hold will be placed on your account. An Accounting Hold prevents course registration, issuance of enrolment verification, issuance of transcripts, and graduation. | The accounting hold will be removed when the outstanding balance, including all penalties, is paid in full. Library Hold | Outstanding Library fines may result in a Library Hold on your account. | Please check the Overdues and Fines page for more information. |
Study Permit Hold | If you are an international student with an expired study permit, you may have a Study Permit Hold. | If your study permit has expired, please make an appointment with an International Advisor as soon as possible. |
Tuition Deposit Hold | International students are required to pay a tuition deposit prior to registering. Students who have not paid the deposit will be prevented from registering until payment is made. | Please check the International Tuition Deposit page for more information. |

Do not see a Registration Date or Time?
If you have not been assigned a registration date and time, no registration date and time message will appear in your Prepare for Registration page. Check the following:
- If you are a new student, have you been formally admitted to the university? Have you paid your non-refundable confirmation deposit?
- If you are a returning student, have you completed any courses in the last three terms at KPU (students who have not attended for a full year must reapply to the university).
- Does your academic standing allow registration (students who have been placed on Required to Withdraw or Extended Withdrawal (formerly Academic Suspension) status are not eligible to register).

How registration dates and times are assigned
Your registration date and time is determined by Policy AR10, Priority and Scheduling of Registration (see Bylaws and Policies).
Order | Description |

1 | Individual students or groups of students requiring priority access to courses as defined by the Provost |
2 | New students |
3 | Declared students with 90 or more credits completed and in good academic standing |
4 | Declared students with 60 or more credits completed and in good academic standing |
5 | Students with 30 or more credits completed and in good academic standing |
6 | Students with less than 30 credits completed and in good academic standing |
7 | Any other student not previously identified |
8 | Late admitted students |
