Checking your Registration Eligibility

Registration Date and Time

  • Log into the Registration Application 
  • Select Prepare for Registration
  • Select the term from the drop-down
  • If you have been assigned a registration date and time, you will see the date and time displayed

Note: To be eligible to register, you need to be either:

  • Newly admitted to the university, OR
  • Have attended at least one of the previous three terms

Registration dates and times are normally published approximately three weeks in advance to the registration period. A notification email will be sent when they are published, so ensure that you are checking your KPU email frequently.


Before your scheduled registration date and time, you will see the message in RED:

Starting on the day of your registration date and time, you will see the message in BLUE:

The start date and time is the first date and time you are able to access Register for Classes. The end date and time is the last date you can access Register for Classes for the term.  Please note that the deadlines to add, drop and withdraw follow the published Dates and Deadlines.


I have a hold. What does it mean?

The following are the holds messages that you may see on you account.

HoldWhat it meansHow to remove the hold
Accounting HoldIf you have an outstanding balance owing after the fee payment deadline, an Accounting Hold will be placed on your account. An Accounting Hold prevents course registration, issuance of enrolment verification, issuance of transcripts, and graduation.The accounting hold will be removed when the outstanding balance, including all penalties, is paid in full. Library HoldOutstanding Library fines may result in a Library Hold on your account.Please check the Overdues and Fines page for more information.
Study Permit HoldIf you are an international student with an expired study permit, you may have a Study Permit Hold.If your study permit has expired, please make an appointment with an International Advisor as soon as possible.
Tuition Deposit HoldInternational students are required to pay a tuition deposit prior to registering. Students who have not paid the deposit will be prevented from registering until payment is made.Please check the International Tuition Deposit page for more information.

How registration dates and times are assigned

Your registration date and time is determined by Policy AR10, Priority and Scheduling of Registration (see Bylaws and Policies).

3Declared students with 90 or more credits completed and in good academic standing
