Student Stories

PSYCHIATRIC NURSING STUDENT

"I have always had an interest in health promotion and helping others, and psychiatric nursing at KPU was the perfect fit. A year into my program at KPU I had to take time away from my studies. It was a challenge, but it helped me learn how to balance my priorities and it sparked a personal interest in student health, which is actually tied to my master’s thesis. Now, I’m a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, and back at KPU as a faculty member. The university has always been extremely supportive of me, even after I finished ‘paying tuition’."

#DidYouKnow that

KPU has a one-year certificate program which prepares internationally educated nurses (IENs) for professional nursing practice and licence in Canada? If you are an IEN looking to practice within the Canadian healthcare system, the Graduate Nurse Internationally Educated Re-entry (GNIE) program can help you continue your career in Canada. Where Health Care Meets Action

TCM Student Clinic

The TCM Student Acupuncture Clinic is a teaching clinic on the KPU Richmond campus. It provides students with real-world experience and knowledge in patient care in a live clinical setting, all while supervised by instructors who are certified practitioners, acupuncturists or doctors of traditional Chinese medicine.

Nursing Labs

The Faculty of Health has dedicated nursing labs at KPU Langley, ensuring you get the hands-on nursing practice you need to be successful. The nursing labs use sophisticated sim technology—a life-sized computer-controlled manikin that simulates the symptoms of various illnesses through changes in breath, pulse and eye movements. The nursing labs are found on the KPU Langley campus and provide a unique learning experience for students across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
