KPU’s LGBTQ2SIA+ community and allies are gearing up to bring their energy and enthusiasm to the Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday.
Vancouver Pride Society has invited KPU to be a Toonie Team at the August 5 parade, carrying a giant rainbow flag that spectators throw donations into in support of the event.
“It’s an amazing way of not only participating and being visible, but doing something meaningful in support of the LGBTQ2SIA+ community,” said Dr. Romy Kozak, KPU’s director of diversity.
“In keeping with this year’s parade theme, ‘Be You—Bring All of You,’ everyone is welcome: you don’t have to be LGBTQ2SIA+ to participate, just happy to create a world where everyone can be proud of, loved and valued for who they are.”
The President’s Diversity and Equity Committee (PDEC) is co-ordinating volunteers and providing information for those interested in taking part. Email pdec@kpu.ca to learn more, or join the team in Vancouver on the south side of Robson St., between Burrard and Thurlow (staging location code BS4), on August 5 at 11 a.m.
