Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma
As a part of a new partnership between KPU, Capilano University, and Métis Nation British Columbia, you can now take Capilano University’s early childhood care and education courses at KPU's Surrey campus.
Why Study Early Childhood Education?
Early childhood educators are committed to nurturing intellectual curiosity in children. Within three years, you will gain the competencies and knowledge to work with children under the age of five in licensed preschools and childcare centres.
Program Details
The early childhood care and education courses offered at KPU Surrey are a part of Capilano University's Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma. By completing this program, you are able to apply to the Ministry of Children and Family Development's Early Childhood Educator Registry for the following credentials:
- ECCE Basic Certificate
- Infant Toddler Certificate
- Special Needs Certificate
Admission and course registration for the Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma is completed with Capilano University. To attend this program, please ensure you satisfy Capilano University's admission requirements, including their English language requirements.
Capilano University will run the Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma as a full-time studies program with blended course delivery. Students will take courses in-person on the KPU Surrey campus, in addition to online synchronous and asynchronous course offerings.
The first intake of students will begin taking courses at KPU Surrey in September 2023.

Tuition and fees
Tuition and fees are paid to Capilano University. All tuition and fee policies are set by Capilano University.

Financial assistance
Capilano University may provide entrance and term awards to students. Additional financial aid, scholarships, and bursaries are available through the Early Childhood Educators of BC and the Métis Nation Skills, Training, Employment and Post-Secondary (STEPS) program.
