Appliance Servicing


Offered at Newton Campus
Full-time Program
Length of Program: 39 weeks
Start date: September
Description
In this nine-month program, students will learn to service household appliances. The training prepares the graduate for employment in the appliance industry and in related careers that require electromechanical skills and knowledge.
Career Opportunities
Employment opportunities in this field may be found with department stores, factory services outlets, independent service shops and authorized service depots. Outside of appliance servicing, opportunities are available with companies who service electromechanical products. Many graduates have started their own business. To enhance employment, graduates may require a driver's license, and may need to be bondable.
Admission Requirements
Students must meet either the regular student admission category or the mature student admission category in addition to the following:
  • Adequate reading comprehension and math skills as assessed by Kwantlen
  • Interview with instructor

Due to the nature of this program, students should have satisfactory physical health.

  • household refrigerators including electronic models
  • freezers
  • air conditioners
Special Equipment
Students will require steel-toed safety shoes, a multimeter, and various other tools.
Graduation

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded a Certificate in Appliance Servicing.
