First Year Experience
Academic Success for Student Athletes
Kwantlen varsity athletes will learn skills for achieving academic
and athletic success. They will explore and write about the
challenges that athletes face in terms of achieving academic and
personal success and develop a personal plan to address these
challenges. They will also learn practical skills for academic success
such as listening, writing, note-taking, public speaking, and library
research.
The following course is strongly recommended as a
foundational and capstone course in Kwantlen’s B.A.
program.UNIV 1100 is required for the B.A. Qualifying
Year.
Introduction to University/College Studies
Students will develop study skills and learning strategies that will
assist with their transition to a university/college environment.
They will learn skills critical to their success, such as time
management, test taking, research, and reading academic
textbooks. Students will develop career and educational plans and
will assess resources and services supporting academic success.
