Introduction to Engineering
Students will learn about the practice of Engineering through a series of seminars and field trips conducted by working engineers. They will cover work done in various engineering fields, focusing on particular industries and/or specific disciplines. Students will participate in seminars on several engineering metaskills and complete a group design project followed by a presentation to the class.
Note: This course is part of the first year engineering transfer program.
Corequisites: APSC 1151
Note: Students must be registered in the Applied Science Program.

Introduction to Engineering Graphics
This course will cover technical sketching, orthographic projection, visualization in three dimensions and conventions of engineering drawing. Micro-computer based graphics (AutoCAD) will be introduced and used extensively. The principles of descriptive geometry will be applied to the solution of space problems. This course is designed for students intending to transfer to an Engineering program.
Prerequisites: MATH 1112 (or higher level) or Mathematics 12 (with a C or better)

Introduction to Microcomputer SYSTEMS
Students will learn about computer systems organization, transducers and interface techniques, and the use of microcomputers and C language to carry out certain tasks such as data acquisition and control. They will participate in several tutorial sessions and complete several group projects aimed at finding solutions to specified problems.
Prerequisites: CPSC 1103
