Access Programs For People With Disabilities
DESCRIPTION

The goal of the Access Programs for People with Disabilities (formerly Adult Special Education) department is to provide post-secondary education for adults with various disabilities. This program will help students to enhance their independence and employability skills.

EMPLOYMENT POTENTIAL

The APPD program at Kwantlen University College is designed to maximize social skills and employment opportunities for students with disabilities. With instruction and training, students can realize their career and personal potential.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Adults (18 and older) with a defined disability may apply

  • Assessment prior to entry to determine appropriate program options and eligibility

  • Complete Access Programs for People with Disabilities application package

  • Participate in intake interviews

Vocational Skills Training options require additional prerequisites prior to acceptance.

Career Awareness and Job Preparation programs are one year in length from the time of entry as seats become available. Vocational Skills Training is a ten month program starting in September of each year.

Students pay a one-time application fee to Kwantlen, plus a moderate tuition fee. In some cases, various government ministries may pay a portion of these costs.
