Music Foundation Certificate
All applicants must meet Kwantlen’s general admission requirements. Applications for the Music Certificate program will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with placement into the appropriate ensemble and private instruction by interview and audition. Candidates are encouraged to complete these at the scheduled time in April and May; if seats are available additional interviews may be held in June and/or August.
The Music Foundation Certificate is a one-year, two-semester program totaling 30 credits. By giving a thorough grounding in the essential elements of music history theory, aural musicianship and rhythm skills, and performance, the program provides a firm base upon which to build musical skills. A core curriculum is supplemented by music and/or academic electives chosen by the student in consultation with a faculty advisor.
