Application Timelines

Applications to Kwantlen and to particular programs will only be received within a specific interval of time prior to the start of a program intake.

For applications received through the Web, the application date will be the date that the complete application, including the application fee and all required documentation, is received.

Note
All dates subject to change without notice. If an application start or end date falls on a weekend or on a holiday, the deadline will be extended to the next business day.

Semester-Based Open Registration

Applications for admission or re-admission to a particular intake of an open registration program may be submitted in accordance with the following timelines.

Table 1. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents

Fall Application start date Nov. 01 Initial Application end date Jun. 30
Spring Application start date Mar. 01 Initial Application end date Oct. 15
Summer Application start date Jul. 01 Initial Application end date Feb. 28

Applications for admission or re-admission received by the initial application cut-off date will be assigned a registration appointment time as outlined under the section headed Registration Priority. Applications will be accepted after the initial cut-off date up-to the completion of the registration period for each semester. These applicants will be assigned a lower registration priority based on their date of application. Beginning with the first day of class each semester, late applicants must apply in-person.

Due to the extra time required for review, applications for Special Admission or Concurrent Studies, as well as from International Applicants or applicants who were required to withdraw, will normally only be accepted up to the application cut-off date.

Note
Students remain eligible to register for up to 3 consecutive semesters after applying and/or registering for a semester.

Semester-Based Selective Entry

Unless otherwise specified by a particular program, applications for admission or re-admission for a particular intake of a selective entry program may be submitted in accordance with the following timeline.

Table 2. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents

Fall Application start date Nov. 01 Application end date Mar. 31
Spring Application start date Mar. 01 Application end date Jul.31
Summer   Application start date Jul. 01 Application end date Nov.30

Applications will only be accepted after the application cut-off date (but before the start of classes) if it appears that the program intake will not be filled by qualified applicants who submitted an application within the published application timelines.

Applicants who are not selected for a program intake or who are selected but do not register are required to re-apply.

Applications will not be carried over from one program intake to the next. Re-applicants must be prepared to go through the full admissions review process even though they may have met the admission requirements at the time of the original application.

Continuous Intake (Limited Enrolment)

Applications for Continuous Intake programs will be accepted throughout the year. As continuous intake programs run continuously, there is no cut-off date after which applications will no longer be received.

Seats in the program will be filled from the qualified applicant list in order by date of qualification.
