The focus of this course will be the use of advanced word processing features with WordPerfect in a Windows environment. Students will be provided with realistic, practical keyboarding simulations. Development of high standards in proofreading, editing, and formatting skills will be stressed.

Secretarial Bookkeeping
This introductory course covers the principles of double-entry bookkeeping. The emphasis is on the identification and recording of business transactions and posting to the General Ledger and Accounts Receivable and Payable Ledgers. The full accounting cycle is completed.

Information Processing
This course will introduce advanced features of Excel and Access. Emphasis will be on understanding concepts and on practical applications.

This course offers a procedural and conceptual approach to corporate accounting. Transactions will be processed using CA-Simply Accounting and financial analysis will be completed using an electronic spreadsheet

Computer Application II
A review of basic accounting concepts and terminology is combined with the use of the AccPac Simply Accounting System. The enhancement of accounting data through the use of graphs and reports is achieved through the integration of Simply Accounting with other software.

WordPerfect
This course is designed to develop the student's ability to use features of WordPerfect to produce documents at an intermediate level. This course is designed for EAL students only.

This course introduces students to the fundamental duties of the legal secretary. Subjects covered will include preparation of correspondence, basic legal instruments, court documents, time keeping, diary systems, filing, legal record keeping, legal terminology, sources of law, and court systems.

Legal Office Procedures-Corporate Law
This course introduces the student to the BC. Company Act, and the terminology and procedures relating to corporate law. Students will be able to prepare and process the documentation required for incorporation of a company, for post-incorporation, for annual requirements, and for registration and filing with the Registrar of Companies.

Legal Office Procedures-Litigation and Family Law
Litigation will introduce student to the process of civil litigation in British Columbia. Students will learn the preparation and processing of civil litigation documents, including trial procedures, and collections resulting from court judgments. Family Law focuses on the legal procedures and documentation related to marriage agreements, separation agreements, division of family assets, and defended and undefended divorces. Students will become familiar with the requirements of the Divorce Act and the Family Relations Act.

This course is designed to provide a foundation for the study of medical terms that describe the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the body systems and to introduce the student to the specialized areas of medicine.

This course is designed to introduce the student to the administrative duties of the medical office which include: answering the telephone, making appointments, typing letters, transcribing correspondence and patient histories; preparing and agenda, minutes of a meeting, itinerary, and office procedures manual.

Job Preparation and Practicum/Project
This course provides the student with effective employment search skills. The student will gain practical knowledge of an office environment. Bookkeeping II
This course builds on the concepts that the student has learned in Bookkeeping I.
