Marketing Management

Offered at Langley, Richmond and Surrey

Graduation

Kwantlen currently offers a two-year Marketing Management Diploma Program and a one-year Marketing Certificate Program.

Graduation/Transfer

The two-year Marketing Management Diploma will also prepare graduates for university. With this diploma, graduates may obtain full transfer credit for course work to enter directly into Kwantlen's Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (subject to acceptance and satisfaction of admissions standards) or the third year of the Open University's Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. More information on these programs can be found in this calendar, through the Counselling Office, or from Admissions.

Certain courses in the program are also transferable to the University of British Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), and the University of Victoria (UVic).

Description

Marketing emphasizes competitive advantages of companies and examines the interrelationships that exist among their customers, the competition, and company resources. A key part of marketing consists of gaining insights into customer needs and then developing effective marketing strategies.

The two year Marketing Management Diploma is a comprehensive program designed to give you a solid, general foundation in this exciting field. In the first year, the emphasis is on basic business knowledge and skills. In the second year you'll explore the discipline of Marketing intensively, with emphasis on the job skills and experience that business demands. Projects with local businesses and organizations are also included to offer students "real world" experience.

What about further education? Students that complete the Marketing Management Diploma and satisfy certain admission standards will also find a smooth transition into Kwantlen's BBA Program in Entrepreneurial Leadership. Many of our graduates are also pursuing further studies at UBC, Simon Fraser, Royal Roads and many other post-secondary institutions.

Career Opportunities

A marketing education is one of the best ways to prepare for a career in business. Virtually all businesses and organizations, profit and non-profit alike, apply marketing to advance their organizational goals. Graduates have a solid grounding in business basics and learn how to make a profit by meeting people's needs with useful products and services.

With a Marketing Management Diploma, graduates are eligible for almost any entry-level business position. Such positions can lead to exciting careers in advertising, retailing, customer relations, sales and sales management, marketing research, or business management.

Positions held by recent Kwantlen Marketing Management Graduates include: Business Owner; Account Manager; Assistant Manager of Promotions; Restaurant Manager; RRSP Specialist; Marketing Representative; Customer Service Representative; Senior Operations Manager; Field Supervisor; and Sales Representative.

Kwantlen's most recent Graduate Survey reports that the majority of marketing management graduates are employed or continuing with further education. Among these graduates, several have started their own successful businesses.
