Description
English Language Training provides intensive courses in English as a second language. Courses are offered at different levels ranging from beginner to advanced (course descriptions ENLT 0011 - ENLT 0063 for full-time and ENLT 0110 - ENLT 0610 for part-time). Students can improve their listening/speaking, reading/writing, and pronunciation skills. The advanced level courses provide English language preparation for ESL students who plan to enter English for Academic Purposes (EASL) or career and vocational programs.
Langley
Regular program - part-time
One high intermediate class is offered in the Fall and Spring Semesters. Students should apply at the Admissions Office at the Langley Campus.
Newton
Regular program - full-time
Four full-time classes are offered. They range from high-beginner to advanced. There is also a part-time beginner's class All applicants must have functional English literacy skills. Students should apply at the Admissions Office at the Surrey Campus.
A combined skills course in English Language Training and Appliance repair is also offered. Please see the Appliance Repair section of the calendar for information.
English Language Services for Adults (ELSA)
- full-time
Two full-time classes, levels 2 and 3, are sponsored under the ELSA program. Students should apply at the CLBA ELSA Testing Centre, # 200 - 7525 King George Highway, Surrey. Telephone: 507-4150. Please note that Canadian citizens are not eligible for this program.
Richmond
Regular program - part-time
Several half-time classes are offered. They range from intermediate to advanced. Students should apply at the Admissions Office at the Richmond Campus.
Pronunciation Course
ENLT 0074 is offered in the Fall and Spring Semesters. It is designed to help students to improve their pronunciation of English so that they can communicate more effectively. Students should apply at the Admissions Office on the Richmond Campus.
English Language Services for Adults (ELSA)
- full-time and part-time
One full-time class (level 3) and two half-time classes (levels 2 and 3) are offered. Students should apply at the CLBA ELSA Testing Centre, # 102-395 West Broadway, Vancouver. Telephone: 876 -5756. Please note that Canadian citizens are not eligible for this program.
Admission Requirements
Normal Kwantlen admission requirements apply. In addition, all applicants will be required to do an assessment test.
Graduation
Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded a Certificate in English Language Training.
