Incorporated under the Society Act in 1981, Kwantlen University College Student Association (KSA) continues to serve the student body by providing support services, advocacy and representation. Elections are held for students who whish to serve a yearlong term on the Council and Executive Board. A team of support staff handles the business operations and day-to-day management of the Association.

The Student Association makes financial contributions and lends logistical support to: scholarships and awards, daycare, bursaries, emergency funds, the Library (Buy-a-Book Campaign), clubs and recreation services. The KSA has also donated equipment to the College for student use, such as: printers, computers for job placement services, and microwave ovens.

A significant role of your student leaders is to be a strong voice for students on issues that affect their education, such as affordability, accessibility and transferability. As well, they address social issues by supporting awareness campaigns on AIDS, Drinking and Driving, Eating Disorders, Drug Abuse and Cultural Diversity Issues. Students can be assured that their rights are protected and their opinions are being heard at various levels of policy-making bodies within the University College, such as, the Board of Governors, Presidential Advisory Committee, Appeals Committee and Education Council.

Your student fees pay for many services that are currently benefiting the student body. Some of these services include:

Other services of the KSA include the Fishbowl Lounge located on the Surrey campus featuring Mr. Sub and We Proudly Brew Starbuck's coffee. It also features lots of seating, free use of Internet stations, a microwave and jukebox. There you will also find the Arcade where 100% of the proceeds go toward scholarships.

As well, the KSA has invested in fitness equipment in the Talon Room fitness centre that is jointly operated with the Department of Athletics and Recreation. It provides students with the use of state of the art fitness equipment for an extremely affordable price.

The KSA has contributed over $50,000 and continues to provide financial support for Campus Pipeline. Campus Pipeline is an online resource for e-mail, class registration, on-campus events, student deals, and online study groups. Check it out at http://pipeline.kwantlen.bc.ca

The Ombudsperson's Office

The KSA supports the rights of students to study free from harassment and with respect to the rights of fair disciplinary procedure. The Ombudsperson provides consultation and advice to students regarding academic discipline, grades and admission appeals. As well, the Ombudsperson serves to protect against alleged wrong doing both within the Student Association and Kwantlen University College.
