Effective date of this calendar, unless otherwise indicated, is Sept. 1, 2002 to Aug. 31, 2003. Transfer program to Simon Fraser University. DescriptionThis Diploma Program prepares students for the third year of the Business Administration Program at Simon Fraser University (SFU). It should be noted that the completion of a Kwantlen diploma does not guarantee admission to SFU. Admission requirements are set and administered by SFU. As university GPA and admission requirements are reviewed annually, students are advised to stay current by consulting with SFU advisors. Graduates are eligible for direct entry into the third year of Kwantlen's Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership. ENGL 1205 Drama and the Short Story ENGL 1206 Poems and Novels PHIL 1100 Introduction to Philosophy PHIL 1110 Confronting Moral Issues: Ethics PHIL 1145 Critical Thinking MATH 1120 can be substituted for MATH 1140 Note: The combination of ACCT 1110 and ACCT 1210 transfers to SFU as three credits only. Students who choose this option should be aware that although they will have completed the requirements for a diploma in Business Administration, they would have only 57 SFU credits. Dedicated ElectivesAll courses chosen must be SFU transferable (refer to transfer guide). To fulfill SFU's Group Requirements, students must complete: No more than three courses (including courses listed under "Required Courses") from any one discipline may be applied toward this requirement.
Suggested ElectivesFour additional electives chosen from all available SFU transferable courses for a total of sixty (60) credits to complete the diploma. Please check the transfer guide. When making your choice, consider that the following courses are prerequisites or beneficial introductions for some of the required courses within this diploma (and may be taken for credit): BUSI 1110 Fundamentals of Business in Canada CBSY 1105 Introductory Microcomputer Applications MATH 1112 College Mathematics Other business-oriented courses that provide a good foundation for more advanced courses (and may be taken for credit) are: CMNS 1140 Business and Technical Communications - Theory and Application MRKT 1235 Small Business Essentials MATH 1240 Calculus II (Business Applications)
