Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in AccountingDescriptionOffered at Surrey Campus (ENTR and LBED elective courses only are also offered at Richmond Campus). Full and part-time start for third and fourth year students, three times per year. DescriptionThe Bachelor of Business Administration Program provides full and part-time intensive study for students wishing to earn a business degree from Kwantlen University College. This degree is an appropriate goal for students who want to study beyond a diploma and their initial two-year equivalent post secondary education. Students enter the program after successfully completing an accounting diploma from a recognized college, institute or university with a minimum of 60 credits and a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher. This program then offers the third and fourth years of the degree program. The BBA degree program provides advanced accounting, business and leadership training and is the next step for many students in their life-long learning process. Options: Regular and Co-op ModeStudents may graduate from either the regular Bachelor of Business Administration degree mode or the optional Co-operative Education mode. Students applying for Co-op must complete all prescribed courses with a cumulative GPA of a least 3.0. Career OpportunitiesIn Canada, a degree is now a mandatory prerequisite to the awarding of an accounting designation. Similar requirements are being implemented in other countries that have professional governing bodies. In the past few years BC has experienced an employment growth rate of over 40% for auditors, accountants and investment professionals. By 2005 industry analysts project in excess of 9500 job opportunities in the accounting and finance areas. Similar trends are evident throughout Canada and the United States. Note: A first year English course (excluding ENGL 0099 1099) is a requirement for graduation for all Kwantlen degrees. Entry into third and fourth year LBED courses require this as a prerequisite. ContentThe degree program will require a minimum of 120 credit hours of post-secondary courses. This includes the initial two years of post-secondary education equal to 60 credit hours. The courses in third and fourth year are rigorous and demanding. Prior to registering, you should carefully consider the time requirements of part-time versus full-time study based on your individual work and personal situation. Years 1 and 2Successful completion of a two year Accounting Diploma. this requirement must be satisfied prior to your acceptance to the BBA program. Please ensure your work and personal schedules can accommodate these times prior to committing to the program. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Entrepreneurial LeadershipOffered at Richmond, Surrey (Full-time and Part-time) DescriptionThe Bachelor of Business Administration Program provides full-time and part-time intensive study for students wishing to earn a business degree Kwantlen University College. Based on extensive consultations with business leaders, the degree is designed for managers and entrepreneurs who intend to take Business leadership roles or start their own businesses. Graduates will be engaged in enterprise development, management and leadership in small and medium sized businesses. This degree is an appropriate goal for students who want to study beyond a diploma or their initial two years of post secondary education. Students enter the program after either successfully completing a college business diploma or two years (60 credits) of study at a post-secondary institution. This program then offers the third and fourth years of the degree program. Degree classes are scheduled for evenings and weekends to allow students to further their education while maintaining current employment.

Prior Learning AssessmentApplicants, without 60 credits of formal education, but with significant experience or non-formal learning, may be able to obtain academic credits through Prior Learning Assessment. This assessment should be initiated at least six moths in advance. The BBA Program does not award PLA credit for bridging courses or entry requirements. Students must contact the relevant department directly. (e.g. a student desiring PLA credit for BUSI 1210 - Essentials of Management must contact the Business Management Department directly.) ContentWithin the context of the liberal education outcomes, all degrees require at least 18 credits in liberal education:
These 18 credits may include up to six credits of liberal education from courses or parts of courses from within the core discipline(s) of the degree as adjudicated by the Liberal Education Curriculum Committee. The degree program will require 120 credit hours of post-secondary courses. This includes the initial two years of post-secondary education equal to 60 credit hours. Bridging Program CoursesStudents who do not have a two-year business related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution are required to complete six "bridging" courses. Students do not have to repeat any courses they have already taken, including equivalent courses from other institutions. All of these courses are widely offered at Kwantlen. Bachelor of Business Administration - Open University (OU)Transfer program to Open University DescriptionKwantlen business diploma graduates have the option of pursuing the Open University's Bachelor of Business Administration. Kwantlen students who complete a business diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Commerce, General Business Studies, or Marketing Management are eligible for a block transfer of up to 60 credits toward the OU degree. Students who complete a business diploma in Computer Information Systems are eligible for a block transfer of up to 45 credits.
