Effective date of this calendar, unless otherwise indicated, is Sept. 1, 2002 to Aug. 31, 2003. Start date: September and February DescriptionOur Employment and Educational Access Program at Kwantlen is designed to help students identify employment and career goals. In addition to offering practical hands on training, the program focuses on self exploration, decision making, career plans, self employment options; included are a variety of workshops on time management, resume writing, cultural and diversity issues, stress management, teamwork, communication skills, etc. This 16-week program also offers a computer training component as well as career assessments and various experience placement opportunities. Career OpportunitiesThese are exploratory programs aimed at assisting students in identifying and researching realistic career goals and helping them in developing a plan of action to achieve short and long term employment and/or educational goals. Student ProfileThe student must be mature, motivated to learn and open to new ideas. Separate programs are offered for specific target groups. Currently programs are offered for women, men and Aboriginal people. Admissions RequirementsRegular Kwantlen admission requirements apply. In addition applicants should attend an information session and must have a personal interview with the instructor. FundingAll Access Programs are now tuition free. Assistance for registration fees and books are available to those who qualify. Men/WomenOffered at Langley, Newton, Richmond and Surrey. Offered twice a year usually in September and in late January. Classes run Monday to Friday 0900 to 1500. Aboriginal PeopleContentPrograms are offered twice a year usually in September and in late January. This is an 18 week full-time program with classes running from Monday to Friday - 0900 to 1500. Taught by an aboriginal instructor, this program focuses on assisting Aboriginal students in achieving education and employment goals. Instruction incorporates culturally sensitive learning tools and provides students with an opportunity to enhance one's pride in their cultural heritage.
