Effective date of this calendar, unless otherwise indicated, is Sept. 1, 2002 to Aug. 31, 2003. DescriptionThrough directed home-study, workshops, and clinical practice, the Graduate Nurse Qualifying courses are designed to meet the needs of nurses who have been educated in other countries, and have not had sufficient educational preparation in obstetric, pediatric or mental health nursing to meet the requirements of the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia. Career OpportunitiesThese courses are designed to assist the graduate to meet basic educational requirements for nurse registration in British Columbia. Admission RequirementsIn addition to Kwantlen's general admission requirements, applicants must complete the following prerequisites before final acceptance into the program:
Two criminal record searches: a general RCMP search completed within 3 months prior to enrolling in the course to meet Kwantlen University College requirements and an RNABC search under the Criminal Record Review Act to meet facility requirements in pediatric and obstetrical settings. An interview with the Program Coordinator or designate may be required. ContentThese courses admit students at regular intervals throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The courses are self-paced and are completed within four months.
