Effective date of this calendar, unless otherwise indicated, is Sept. 1, 2002 to Aug. 31, 2003. Community Support WorkerDescriptionThe Community Support Worker program educates workers to support individuals with mental disabilities. This twelve (12) month certificate program is offered over three (3) semesters. Semester 1 will be from September to December. Semester 2 will be from January to April/May, and Semester 3 will be from September to December. The program will be offered full-time with a select number of seats available for day part-time students. Each semester will have theory and field practice components that focus on a community development model. Career OpportunitiesGraduates of the program are qualified to work in a variety of settings (residential, vocational and educational) that support people with mental disabilities. Admission RequirementsIn addition to the general Kwantlen University College requirements, the following specific prerequisites apply to this program:
