Call for presentations Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR) is pleased to issue a Call for Presentations for the 2017 Conference. NEVR is a cross sectoral committee consisting of over 50 organizations from policing, education, government and nonprofit in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. We strive to raise awareness and promote prevention by educating communities on how to reduce and eliminate violence in relationships. This year our theme will be “Healthy Families: Pathways to Resilience” which aims to provide frontline staff the opportunity to learn from each other regarding best evidence based practices within the sector. The focus will be on how to provide treatment and safety to vulnerable populations such as youth, Aboriginals, LGBTQ+, seniors, refugees, and immigrants. We are seeking educators and knowledgeable personnel who have an interest in sharing their expertise with our conference delegates. Our conference subthemes within vulnerable populations are: youth, Aboriginals, LGBTQ+, seniors, refugees, and immigrants. Examples of topic ideas are below: • Innovative practices in responding to relationship violence • Innovative practices supporting healthy families • Local current practices and programs • Effective advocacy for victims of crime • Increasing resiliency • Prevention programs within the themes • Addressing vulnerable populations • Trauma informed care We will also be sharing on our Community Champions Toolkit at this conference.
