Afshin Doust

Afshin Doust holds a Master of Business Administration from University Canada West and is currently studying for his doctorate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the International School of Business. Afshin teaches strategy, ethics, business environment and governance at UCW. His teaching philosophy is to share real-life experiences in business with his students and to prepare his students to meaningfully engage and contribute to any organization they work with. Afshin is a start-up enthusiast and an angel investor.

Afshin has been involved in various businesses in Vancouver since 1988. He has established and divested companies in mortgage lending, real estate, international trade, investment management, and consulting. Afshin has also held positions in business development and relationship management in Banking and Technology. He is currently the CEO of a robotics company, Advanced Intelligent Systems, and sits on various advisory boards. 

 

Hardeep Mehrotara

Hardeep has over 20+ years of experience in IT & Information Security leadership roles in property management, financial sector and various levels of government.  

Hardeep has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Crime from BC Institute of Technology and an MBA from McGill Executive Institute. He holds professional designations in Security Management, Security Audit, Computer Crime, Incident Response and Forensics from the SANS, ISC2 and ISACA Institute.

Hardeep served as a Canadian Armed Forces reserves officer responsible for assisting with Cyber Force development and supporting mission-critical communication and information services. Co-author and a strong contributor to the Center of Internet Security (CIS) Top 20 Critical Controls, CIS Technical Benchmarks, Carnegie Endowment World Economic Forum Capacity-Building Cyber Toolbox, and Cloud Security Alliance top threats whitepapers. Hardeep was featured on Global TV and CTV news as a cyber security expert.

Carson Thompson

He is accountable for meeting client Service Level Agreements (SLAs), coaching and developing Technicians, and delivering an unmatched customer experience. Carson joined the team in March of 2019 bringing with him just under a decade of leadership experience from both Shaw Communications and McDonald’s Restaurants.

Winnie Mok

Director of Information Technology at Science World

Winnie Mok joined as Director, Information Technology of Science World in May 2020. Winnie has over 25 years of IT experience, with the majority of her career specializing in strategic systems planning, infrastructure design, business solutions implementation, and technology management. She spent the last 5 years as the IT Director at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) overseeing IT across the entire site; including events such as The Fair, Playland, and Fright Nights.

Prior to the PNE, Winnie spent 16 years as the Director, Information Technology at BC Place Stadium where she managed IT operations for the Stadium including provisioning IT solutions for major events such as the 2010 Winter Olympics, Grey Cup, and other major spectator events and consumer tradeshows.
Winnie is a mentor with the Women in Communications & Technology (WCT) Mentorship Program and the Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology (SCWIST) eMentoring Program.
In her spare time, Winnie enjoys cooking, reading and exercising. Winnie and her husband like to travel and spend time with family and friends.
