KPU Relay For Life team donates big, wins bronze
Metro Vancouver, BC – Twelve members of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) community raised $5,555 for the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life last Friday.
Their fundraising was recognized with a bronze medal at McLeod Athletic Park, where the team participated in a 12-hour relay.
"This was my first experience with an event like the Relay For Life, and the way the community came together to not only fundraise for cancer research and programs but to celebrate life was so heartwarming. I hadn't expected to enjoy it as much as I did," says Fatima Sakarya, who works in the General Counsel's office.
The Langley event alone contributed over $290,000 towards life-saving cancer research. Donations through the Relay For Lifefund crucial cancer prevention initiatives, as well as the delivery of care and practical and personal support to people living with cancer.
