My interest in literature is creative nonfiction, especially the genre of the essay. I learnt the word "essaying" when I took my first undergraduate English class, and essaying has since become my way of thinking and learning. When I was six, I made mini booklets for my toys, animated the plushies to do group discussions, and then scribbled tiny comments in their tiny workbooks. I still love teaching, but now my students have real thoughts and real conversations, and I get to comment on real essays. If childhood make-believe counts as a personal fairy tale, then fairy tales do come true.
