Areas of Interest
Fatima’s ongoing interest in adding to the dialogue on the critically important issue of mass migration has led her to research how language, identity, and gender ideologies play key roles in resettlement. Using poststructural and postcolonial lenses, Fatima’s doctoral research is looking at the navigation of employment practices in the refugee context as a form of social integration. Fatima is especially interested in the role of gender, race, and social class in (re)formation of transnational identity of immigrants and the systematic (in)equities in the discourse
