Jason Wright
BFA in Visual Arts (Simon Fraser University), MFA in Sculpture (University of Regina), BEd in Art Education (University of British Columbia)Jason Wright is a practicing artist and arts educator based in Vancouver. Jason has taught with the University of Regina, Arts Umbrella and the Vancouver School Board and has participated in various teaching initiatives including the Vancouver Biennale/Liceo Boston Open Borders project in Bogota, Columbia and Vancouver’s Big Draw Festival. Most recently, Jason attended a 3-month drawing residency at Heima, Iceland, participated in the group show “On the Table” at the Dunlop Gallery in Regina, and exhibited a solo show at The Bakery in Vancouver. Jason also recently gave a lecture as part of the “Canadian Culinary Imaginations” symposium at KPU in Richmond.
Jason is a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic interests include: the daily functions of labour, the comedic impulse, contemporary drawing, food and food culture, arts-based research, and teaching as art-practice.
