Nicola Harwood
BFA (UVIC), MFA (San Francisco State)Nicola Harwood is a writer, theatre and interdisciplinary artist.
Harwood has facilitated many art, writing and theatre projects within communities through arts organizations and theatres including Oxygen Art Centre (co-founder and ED 2004-2012), The San Francisco Mime Troupe, The East Bay Centre for the Performing Arts, The Oakland Museum of Children’s Art and the Magic Theatre of San Francisco. She has taught writing at San Francisco State University, the University of Victoria and Selkirk College in Nelson, BC. She lives in Vancouver with her partner and two children. Nicola Harwood is a writer, theatre and interdisciplinary artist.
Current projects include a production of her play, Buffalo Girls (2016-17) with Frank Theatre of Vancouver, BC. and Temple of Our Madness (2014-2020), a series of interactive media installations about women, animals and girls. A book of creative non-fiction, Dog Heart, is due out with Caitlin Press in March 2016.
Recent projects include High Muck-a-Muck: Playing Chinese (2014), a large-scale collaborative e-literature project. Other recent projects include The Squaw Hall Project (2009-2011), a community engaged theatre and media project with urban ink productions of Vancouver, Salmon Row (2011-13), a site-specific play commissioned by Mortal Coil Performance Society of Vancouver; and the libretto for the opera KHAOS (2012) commissioned by the Amy Ferguson Institute of Nelson, BC.
