Kwantlen students, Bjorn Jivung and Mariko Tsuruoka, both from Mand 2201, participated in the Non-Heritage Beginner's Category which took place at BCIT Downtown Campus on March 17, 2012. Maggie Lam from Mand 1100 participated in the Cantonese Category.

Bjorn beat students from institutions across BC to win first place in the Non-heritage Beginner Category, winning a plaque, cash prize, and a scholarship for studying in China! Mariko also did well, coming fourth in the competition.
