Certificate
Description
The one-year General Business Studies Certificate Program is designed to provide students with a broad range of basic business skills and an understanding of the business environment. Some classes are offered during evenings to accommodate part-time students, and the program completion time may be extended up to a maximum of five years.
Students who complete the required courses for this certificate can continue their study toward a two year career-oriented diploma program at Kwantlen University College. Most of the courses included in this program are transferable to other universities and colleges (please refer to the BC Transfer Guide at www.bccat.bc.ca for details about the transfer status of courses to specific institutions.)

Diploma
Description
The two-year General Business Studies Diploma is a flexible diploma option, which allows students to select a variety of business courses once they have fulfilled the core requirements of the program. Students can develop their own individualized business diploma, which meets their needs in various specialized areas of study. Some classes are offered during evenings to accommodate students who wish to complete the program on a part-time basis.

*If ECON 1150 is taken, ECON 1250 must also be taken to satisfy the economics requirement in the program. ECON 1250 will apply as an elective course.
**ACCT 1130 is the business math course for career programs; however, any equivalent or higher course may be used to meet this requirement. ACCT 1230 is the business statistics courses for career programs; however, any college statistics course may be used to meet this requirement.
Business Studies Requirements
In addition to core requirements, General Business Studies students are required to take six additional 2300 or 2400 level courses from at least two of the following areas:
*ECON 1150 and all ECON 1200 level courses are also acceptable as upper level courses.
Electives
The remaining courses are electives. These electives can be any college courses numbered 1100 or higher that carry academic credit (university transferable are recommended). They can be selected by students to meet prerequisite requirements, or to meet specific student needs and interests.
Transfer
Graduates are eligible for direct entry into the third year of Kwantlen's Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership. They may also receive block transfer credit towards business degree programs at BC Open University and Royal Roads University. Courses may also transfer individually to UBC, SFU, UCFV, UVic and other institutions (please refer to the BC Transfer Guide at www.bccat.bc.ca for specific transfer credit information).
Graduation
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded Diploma in General Business Studies
