Introduction to Welding
This course is an introduction to the welder training program in the province of British Columbia. It also familiarizes the student with the basic hand and power tools and the application of WHMIS regulations and procedures in the welding trade.
Oxy-fuel Gas Cutting
Oxy-fuel process is widely used for the cutting of mild and low carbon steels.
WELD 1102 teaches the student to cut plate and pipe smoothly and accurately with hand-held torches and machines.
Gas and Braze Welding
This course trains the student in the skills of fusion welding, brazing and braze welding of mild steel. These skills will lead to mastery of more advanced welding techniques. Safety is emphasized in this introductory course.
Shielded Metal Arc Welding I
Shielded metal arc welding is widely used in industry. One of the principal courses in Level C training,
WELD 1104 covers equipment, electrodes, techniques and safety.
Air Carbon Arc Gouging
Air carbon arc cutting is a fast, effective and popular method in industry for the removal of metals of all kinds. This course will enable the student to work safely and efficiently with both air carbon arc and plasma arc equipment.

Gas Metal Arc and Flux Core Arc Welding I
Gas metal arc and flux-cored arc welding (GMAW and FCAW) are closely related, continuous wire-feed processes widely used in industry. WELD 1106 trains the student in procedures and applications using a variety of metals and joints.

Shielded Metal Arc Welding II
This course reviews and expands upon the shielded metal arc welding skills acquired in Level C training (WELD 1104). This course is compulsory for Level B Registration.

Gas Metal Arc Welding II
This course reviews and further develops the gas metal arc welding techniques acquired in Level C training (WELD 1106). The student welds steel and aluminum in a variety of positions and with a full range of shielding gases. WELD 1108 develops the skills required in the welding of plate and pipe.

Flux Cored Arc Welding II
This course advances the student's skill in flux-cored arc welding of fillet and groove welds and teaches the techniques of hard-surfacing steel.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) is the most challenging and versatile of all the welding processes. WELD 1110 introduces students to the equipment, techniques and applications of this skill.

Material Handling
Welders require a broad knowledge of materials handling procedures. WELD 1201 ranges from a study of ropes wire ropes, chains and a variety of rigging hardware to lifting and pulling equipment, manual and electrical hoists and cranes.

Blueprint Reading I
This course is designed for the welder who has no experience in drafting. From simple sketches the course advances to dimensioned drawings and the interpretation of structural drawings. The welder's special needs are emphasized throughout. There is a mathematics module to refresh skills in practical calculation.

Metallurgy I
This is an informational course on the nature of metals. Physical properties, manufacture and ultimate applications of ferrous and non-ferrous metals are the subjects of this one week course.

Welding Quality Control and Inspection Procedures
This course surveys the tests employed in industry to ensure welds of high quality. WELD 1204 is a theory course covering the destructive and non-destructive tests currently in common industrial use.

Welding Codes, Standards and Specifications
Welding codes, standards and specifications are guarantees of public safety and product quality. WELD 1205 provides the student with an understanding of the origins, purposes and enforcement of regulations and the way they will affect his work and career development.

Blueprint Reading II
WELD 1206 trains the welder to read and interpret piping drawings. As well as recognizing the manufactured components and their symbols the student learns to design templates for the construction of elbows and tees.

Welding Metallurgy II
This is a metallurgy theory course that provides the Level B welding student with knowledge of the grain structure of metals and the effects of alloy content and heat treatment on the weldability of steel and aluminum.
