Through directed home-study, workshops, labs and clinical practice, the Graduate Nurse Qualifying courses are designed to meet the needs of internationally educated nurses who do not have sufficient education in maternal-child, pediatric or mental health nursing to meet the requirements of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
These courses are designed to assist the graduate to meet basic educational requirements for nurse registration in British Columbia.
In addition to Kwantlen’s general admission requirements, applicants must complete the following requirements before final acceptance into the program:

Letter from the CRNBC stating the need for a qualifying course in one or more of the following areas: maternal-child, pediatric, mental health nursing

English language assessment (written TOEFL 550 or Computer TOEFL 213, SLEP 61, TSE 50)

An interview with the Program Coordinator or designate may be required
Students must meet the following course requirements prior to enrolling in either GNQU 1305, 1315 or 1325:

CPR Level C certificate. CPR certification must remain current throughout the course.

Immunizations consistent with the requirements of clinical agencies. . A TB skin test or chest x-ray dated within 2 years of registering into the program. Some practice experience agencies may require proof of current immunizations. Failure to have documentation acceptable to the agency at the time of placement may mean denial of the experience, which in turn will prevent completion of the program of studies.

Two criminal record searches: a general RCMP search completed within six months prior to enrolling in the course to meet Kwantlen University College requirements and a CRNBC search under the Criminal Record Review Act to meet facility requirements in pediatric and maternal-child settings.
All costs associated with the requirements are the responsibility of the individual students.
These courses admit students at bi-monthly intervals throughout the year. The courses are self-paced and are completed within six months.

GNUR 1180 Lab & Workshop Course: Graduate Nurse Re-entry. GNUR 1180 is required by all students prior to the above clinical courses with the exception of students who have completed the GNEAL program)
In addition to tuition and textbooks, student financial obligations may include uniforms, travel and English language testing (TSE and TOEFL if students’ first language is not English).
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Graduate Nurse Qualifier
