Students seeking entrance to the Certificate program need to show keen interest in music, ability on their instrument, and potential for development. They must be able to read music on their instrument. These requirements are determined at an audition and interview, held in April and May. Late auditions may be held in August, subject to seat availability. Applications for the Music Certificate program will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with placement into the appropriate ensemble and private instruction by interview and audition.

By giving a thorough grounding in the essential elements of music history theory, aural musicianship and rhythm skills, and performance, the program provides a firm base upon which to build musical skills.
