Basic ElectricityThis eight-week course introduces the student to the basic principles of electricity and magnetism. Practical applications to generators, small appliances and motors are learned with the use of basic tools and test equipment.
APPL 1102 cr-1
Basic ElectronicsThis one-week course covers the fundamentals of electronics in appliances. The learner will apply the theory of diodes, SCR's and triacs in lab experiments using the multimeter and the oscilloscope.

Electric DryersThis four-week course teaches the theory, operation and repair of the common makes of household electric dryer. Using systematic diagnostic techniques and flow-charts the learner will trouble-shoot faults to industrial standards.

Standard and Self-cleaning Electric RangesStandard and self-cleaning electric ranges are the subjects of this six-week course. The student will learn trouble-shooting, testing and systematic repair techniques to industrial standards on a variety of common household ranges.

Automatic Electric DishwashersThis four-week course teaches all aspects of installation and repair of automatic electric dishwashers. Using flow charts and schematic diagrams the student trouble-shoots electrical and mechanical problems and repairs washers to industrial standards.

Automatic WashersAll aspects of installation, diagnosis and repair of household automatic washers are studied in this six-week course. Using flow-charts and schematic diagrams the student trouble-shoots problems and performs repairs to industrial standards.

Ancillary ProductsIn this three-day course, the student tests and repairs garbage disposers, trash compactors and electric water heaters. All procedures and safety practices are mastered to industrial standards.

Microwave OvensThis two-week course teaches the student theory and practice in the safe installation, testing and repair of micro-wave ovens. Industrial standards are used in the trouble-shooting of mechanical and electrical faults.

Domestic Refrigeration and Air ConditioningTheory, testing, diagnosis and repair of the domestic refrigerator are the topics of this basic eight-week course in refrigeration. Systematic and safe procedure of analysis and repair are employed as the student works to industrial standards.
