Advanced ManufacturingStudents will study the principles, methods and applications of manufacturing. Topics students will cover include: conventional and advanced manufacturing design, planning and control technologies, basic metal working processes, manufacturing materials, manual and computer numerically-controlled machining, CAD/CAM interface, manufacturing economics, computer applications and computer simulation of manufacturing operations. Manufacturing system control and simulation software will be introduced.

C++ ProgrammingStudents will program a number of different systems in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) C++ to illustrate its portability and use. They will also study Windows programming techniques

Data NetworkingStudents will examine Internet protocols, methods and frame structures, as well as data exchanges between computers and peripherals. Topics students will cover include: applications of serial and parallel ports in Hyper Terminal and Direct Cable Connect; and applications of HDLC, PPP, Ethernet and TCP/IP on the Internet.

Fundamentals of Control SystemStudents will study the principles and applications of control systems using manual techniques and simulation software such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Circuit ApplicationsThis course covers solid state devices such as operational amplifiers, SCR's, analog computer circuits & motor controls as well as industrial control system design and analysis.

Industrial ProcessesThis advanced industrial process control course covers interacting and non-interacting deadtime; inverse systems; advanced control strategies; process modelling; simulation and optimization; distributed control system (DCS); and preparation of standard industrial instrumentation project drawings.

Instrumentation/PLCThis is an advanced course in PLC application to process control and process control instruments. It covers the PLC functions and capabilities; process interface for data acquisition; programming; instrument selection; z-transforms; discrete-time response and stability analysis; and digital feedback controller designs.
Prerequisites: AUTO 2320 or equivalentThe goal of this course is to examine the problems associated with the construction, mathematical description and control of robotic arms.
Prerequisites: Completion of the first year of the programAUTO 2423 cr-2
Hydraulics and PneumaticsThis course is an introduction to fluid power circuitry including descriptions of components and their symbols, construction of basic circuits, design and analysis of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, and electrical control circuits.
