Orientation: Personal Success SkillsThe orientation is intended as a pre-assessment and screening to determine suitability, literacy and competency levels. This two week session includes the following: a personal interview; self assessments (attitude, prior experience, personal objectives); group instruction in leaning and study skills; risk taking and dealing with changes.

Self-Discovery and Esteem-BuildingThis course is designed to assist the student in the process of self-discovery and esteem-building. The class will focus on developing self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-confidence, personal power, and the taking of responsibility.

Communicating EffectivelyThe focus of this course is on improving verbal and non-verbal communication skills in everyday life situations. Students will give and receive feedback; practise handling conflict, and employment interview; and make presentations.

Effective Problem-SolvingThis course will assist the student to improve problem-solving and decision-making skills through the application of a variety of techniques. Each student will learn her preferred problem-solving approach and how to apply alternative approaches to problem-solving. Problems to be addressed will be supplied by the students.

Assessment and Career OptionsThis course is designed to assist the students in gathering and evaluating the information needed to set realistic career goals. Student will have the opportunity to use assessment results, previous experiences, and information gathered through personal interviews.

Options for Self-EmploymentThis course will provide the student with the basic information needed to start and succeed in a home-based business or other self-employment. Students will identify opportunities and research ideas.

Career Decisions and Action PlansThis course will present effective career decision-making through the use of several models. Each student will learn to identify, obtain, and evaluate the information required to formulate and execute a plan of action to reach desired career goals.

Aboriginal Cultural DevelopmentThis course is designed to assist the student in learning the historical and cultural aspects of traditional Aboriginal roles in work and society. The class will focus on historical overview, traditional educational tools, introduction of Aboriginal Ceremonies.
