Arts Speaker Series
Online

Description:

The Experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ KPU students: Gaps & Recommendations

Dr. Tara Lyons, Dept. of Criminology, Kayla Garvin, Sarah Schwagele and Liam Ruel.

Of the KPU students who responded to the 2020 KPU Student Satisfaction Survey, 26% identify as a gender and/or sexual minority such as trans, Two-Spirit, queer (2SLGBTQ+). Gender minority students are less likely to agree that Instructors create a climate supportive of student diversity and only 67% of Queer/Indigiqueer respondents agreed KPU students were treated fairly regardless of gender, compared to 82% of all respondents. This study will investigate whether 2SLGBTQ+ students at KPU require additional and/or tailored supports, services, and classroom experiences that better support their needs.

All presentations will take place from 1-2 PM via Microsoft Teams. Please email artsevents@kpu.ca to RSVP to the virtual event. A Microsoft Teams link to the event will be sent to registrants two days prior to the event date.
