Description:

This two-day course is designed for individuals with little to no brewing experience, offering an engaging introduction to the craft and science behind brewing. Whether you're curious about homebrewing or just want to understand how beer is made, this hands-on experience will provide you with the foundational knowledge you need to get started.

💡 Day 1:
Students will begin the course with an informative session on brewery safety, followed by an overview of the brewing process. You’ll then dive into a hands-on "water brew" using KPU's Small Brewing Systems—an advanced version of a homebrewing setup. This session will give you a practical introduction to brewing equipment and techniques, providing you with the tools you’ll need for brewing success.

🍺 Day 2:
The second day focuses on brewing a batch of beer, where students will follow a carefully chosen recipe guided by the instructors. This immersive, hands-on experience will give you a deeper understanding of the brewing process, as you go from creating the wort to preparing the beer for fermentation.

🏅 Meet the Instructors:
The course is led by instructors Dominic Bernard, M.Sc. Brewing, and Michael Miller, Brew. Dipl., from KPU’s renowned Brewing Diploma program, both of whom are award-winning brewers with years of experience brewing and teaching. Their hands-on experience and passion for brewing will guide you through every step of the process, ensuring you receive top-notch instruction.

👓 Safety Requirements:
Students are required to dress appropriately for the brewery. This includes wearing CSA-approved footwear (such as steel-toed work boots or gum boots), long-sleeve shirts, pants, safety eyewear, and, in some cases, a face mask.

🍻 This course is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in homebrewing or those curious about how beer is made.
