Description:

We all share a deep connection to food. Food evokes memory, identity, and comfort, linking us to our families, cultures, and the land. For Indigenous Peoples, food is more than sustenance—it is a connection to their histories, knowledge systems, and communities. Yet, in most public spaces, Indigenous foods are absent, unacknowledged, or inaccessible.

This workshop series will do more than educate—it will set the table for transformation. Sharing Traditional Indigenous foods fosters reflection, conversation, relationships, and increased understanding of culturally significant foods. It is an act of reciprocity and reconciliation, supporting Indigenous students in reconnecting with the land while offering non-Indigenous participants a meaningful opportunity to engage and learn.

This workshop is open to all KPU students and registration is required.

Date: Monday, June 2, 2025
Time: 12:00-1:30PM
Location: KPU Tech Room 1853

Chef Steph will lead students through a live Bannock cooking demonstration while exploring Indigenous culinary traditions and seasonal foods. Each participant will go home with Bannock mix & local Indigenous jam!
