1. Summer University Elisava, Spain - Open

  1. What: In-person Summer School. a series of design courses to improve your knowledge and skills in a creative and cosmopolitan environment. More details can be found on their website here.
  2. Application: The early bird deadline to apply through KPU is March 21st, 2025.
  3. When: Depending upon the course between June - August 2025. Check here.
  4. Where: In-person at University Elisava at the Barcelona campus or Madrid depending on the program you choose. 
  5. Who: For anyone interested in art, design, multimedia film production, graphic design, fashion textiles, architecture, interior design, and creative studies.
  6. Cost: Depending on the course. 

2. University for the Creative Arts, UK  Open

  • What: In-person International Summer School. Each course will consist of a mixture of studio-based teaching sessions and cultural day trips to London, Brighton and Oxford. More details can be found here
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is March 24th, 2025
  • When: July 14th - July 25th, 2025 or August 4th - August 15th, 2025
  • Where: In person through the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, England with free Heathrow airport pick-up and excursions near London. 
  • Who: For anyone interested in art, design, multimedia film production, graphic design, fashion textiles, architecture, interior design, and creative studies. 
  • Cost: £2,340 The costs include accommodation (catered), the academic program, materials, and weekly excursions. There will be optional extra excursions available for students that will be explained upon arrival.  

3. Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK - Open

  • Cost: £1,200 (English Garden Design and Smart Agriculture and Future Crops - £1,510). You would also need to pay for travel, accommodation, and personal expenses. 

4. VIA University College, Denmark - Open

  • What: In-person International Summer School. More details can be found on their website here.
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is March 17th, 2025.
  • When: Depending upon the course between July 28th - August 29th, 2025. Check here.
  • Where: In-person through the VIA University College in Denmark in their Viborg and Aarhus C campuses.

5. Toulouse Business School (TBS), France & Spain  - Open

  • What: In-person International Summer School. More details can be found on their website here and their brochure here.
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is April 1st, 2025.

6.Hanyang University ERICA Summer School, South Korea - Open

  • What: In-person International Summer School in Ansan, South Korea. More details can be found here.
  • Application: The deadline is  April 1st, 2025.

7. HUFS Summer School, South Korea - Open

  • What: In-person International Summer School in South Korea. More details can be found here. The following courses have been assessed: Korean Cinema: An International Success (3 credits) for KPU's LANC 1xxx (3 credits) and Korean Popular Culture and Media (3 credits) for KPU's LANC 1xxx (3 credits).   • Where: In-person summer school through HUFS, in South Korea.
  • Who: This is for all students interested in Korean and Asian studies or Business in Asia.

8. Hong Kong University Summer Institute, Hong Kong - Open

  • What: In-person Hong Kong University Summer Institute (HKUSI) in Hong Kong. The Summer Programs are uniquely designed to enable students to explore their academic interests and professional pathways while enjoying a summer experience at HKU. More details can be found here.

9. University of Guanajuato, Mexico - Closed

  • What: In-person International Summer School. An eight-week summer program that provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to gain training and mentorship in scientific research, alongside cultural immersion.
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is February 27th,2025
  • When: June 11th to August 1st, 2025 
  • Where: In-person through the Guanajuato University in Guanajuato, Mexico.
  • Who: This is for students in Art, Sciences, Law, Engineering, Economics.
  • Cost: No tuition when nominated from KPU. You just need to pay for travel, accommodation, and personal expenses.

  • What: In-person International Summer School for Engineering students. The program is intended for advanced undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. More details are on the website here and in the  pamphlet: 

  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is January 31th 2025. 
  • When: 
    • Online: June 10th -June 16th, 2025
    • In-person: July 17th - August 18th, 2025.
  • Where: In person through the Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences in Giessen
  • Who: This is for students in Engineering programs wanting an international experience in Germany.  
  • Cost:  No tuition when nominated from KPU. You just need to pay a small participation fee, for transportation, accommodation, and personal expenses. 

12. Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany - Closed

  • What: In-person International Summer School for Engineering students. More details can be found here. The program is intended for advanced undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is February 27th 2025. 
  • When: July 7th - August 9th, 2025.
  • Where: In person through the Munich University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany with excursions to Bavarian lake, Olympic memorials and beer garden. 
  • Who: This is for students in Engineering programs wanting an international experience in Germany.  
  • Cost: The program fee of €1,890 covers: tuition for the German Language and Culture class, two subject courses, the official cultural and social program, free internet access at the university and a welcome package. For students from partner universities, the fee is reduced to €1,750. Accommodation charges are €1,200 per person for 34 nights in a triple or quad bedroom. Please find details about the housing and options on their website.

13.  Mackenzie Presbyterian University, Brazil - Closed

  • What: Program taught in English for science students revolving around Water Management, Sustainability and Pollution.
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is February 27th 2025. Successful applicants will then be nominated to apply to the University
  • When: May 12th - June 27th,
  • Where: In Person at the University of Mackenzie in São Paulo
  • Who: This is for students interested in understanding the environmental, social and technical impacts of pollution and treatment.
  • Cost: No tuition when nominated from KPU. You just need to pay for travel, accommodation, and personal expenses. 

14. ICT Summer School at Metropolia, Finland - Closed

  • What: the list of courses and more can be found on the website. All the courses are taught in English and are mostly in person.
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is February 27th, 2025. 
  • When: August 4th - 22nd, 2025
  • Where: It is held at Metropolia Myyrmaki campus in the city of Vantaa, Finland close to the capital of Helsinki where the airport is located. 
  • Who: This is for students wanting an international experience in Finland and are interested in information and communication technologies. 
  • Cost: No tuition when nominated from KPU. You just need to pay for travel, accommodation, and personal expenses. 

15. Toyo University, Japan - Closed

  • What: The program includes intensive Japanese language for absolute beginners and culture classes. Participants will have the chance to learn with Toyo University Japanese students in interactive classes. Plus, we've got a field trip to Mt. Fuji with Toyo students lined up for students to understand its environmental issues and SDGs better. Learn more about this program on their YouTube page here.

  • When: August 19th to 31st, 2024 
  • Where: In-person at Toyo University in Japan
  • Who: This is for students who are absolute beginners in Japanese and want to learn more about the language and culture. For more course info, click here.
  • Cost: Participation fee after discount is 203,00 yen (approx. $1820 CAD).

16. Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan  - Closed

  • What: Unique opportunity to learn Japanese language, history and culture with lectures in Japanese Language, Society and culture, and Buddhism. Participants will explore the country's past and present through excursions to locations in Kyoto and the Kansai Region. More details are in their flyer here and wesbite here
  • Application: The deadline to apply through KPU is April 9, 2024. Successful applicants will then be nominated to apply to the University by their deadline of April 14, 2024.
  • When: July 1 - 13, 2024.
  • Where: Kyoto and the Kansai "quintessential" region of Japan.

  • Cost: 200,000 JPY (conversion rates to Canadian may change and this would be around $1,800.00 CA). Accommodation and field trips are included. Personal expenses, transportation to Japan and back, and other fees are not included. See program information for details. \

17. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Summer Program 2024 - Closed

  • What: This 14 day non-credit summer program in Beijing, China will allow KPU students with or without TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) background to join a KPU-only customized TCM summer program through Beijing University of Chinese Medicine’s Centre for International Chinese Language and TCM Education. The Chinese Medicine Experience Centre provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about the TCM culture. For more details see their brochure here.

  • When: August 24th to September 7th, 2024 
  • Where: In-person in Beijing, China
  • Who: For KPU Faculty of Health Students with a TCM background or interested in TCM.

6.  CommTECH Nusantra 2025 On-Site: Voices of Diversity: Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue, Indonesia - Open

  • What: Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya is dedicated to fostering knowledge and technology through a lens of social and cultural understanding. Indonesia, with its vast array of islands, offers a unique landscape of cultures and traditions, particularly on Java, where over 145 million people live in one of the world’s most diverse communities. This year, through the CommTECH Nusantara with the topic of ‘Voices of Diversity: Exploring Intercultural and Interreligious Conversations in Indonesia,’ ITS seeks to highlight the harmonious coexistence of various ethnicities and religions.
