Application | FAST Finance Reporting Access

How to Apply for FAST Finance Reporting Access

All new account requests should be made directly by email to Financial Reporting at fin.reporting.coord@kpu.ca.

  • Requests should include:

    • User’s first name and last name
    • Employee ID
    • Fund Type (not mandatory)
    • Org Number(s)
    • Type of Access, for each Org requested
    • Access to Salary information (Y/N)
    • FAST Modules requested
    • Approval from Dean/Director or delegate via email

If you have changed departments and require access to Orgs in your new department, access to your old department will automatically be cancelled, upon notification, with the new set up unless you advise otherwise.

Lower level org codes can be “rolled up” or summarized into higher level (predecessor) Orgs.  The highest level Orgs represents the broadest categories, and information becomes more and more specific with each lower level.

When feasible, it is preferable to request access to a higher level (predecessor) Orgs as opposed to multiple lower level (subordinate) Orgs that fall beneath one predecessor org.  Note, however, access to a predecessor org provides access to all subordinate Orgs that fall beneath it.  Also, any newly created subordinate Orgs will automatically be included within the predecessor org access, unless a specific request is made otherwise.

  • Fund Type and Org Number

    • Fund Type (only need to specify for higher level Orgs) - categorizes the source/type of funding or where the funding is from.  Please choose any combination of the following – Operating, Capital, SPF and Ancillary
    • Org Number – Organization number, categorizes who spends the money (cost center).  If you need assistance in determining which Org to request, please contact Financial Reporting.

  • Type of Access

    • Query – provides the user access to view budgets and transactions in the org, but does not provide authority to post charges against the budget.
    • Posting – allows the user to post charges against the org, but does not allow them to view any transactions in FAST.  Users will need posting (or both) access to be able to use Webreq, PCard and Journal Voucher (JV) Modules.  Access cannot be differentiated between modules.
    • Both – Query and Posting access. Access types cannot be differentiated between modules.

Financial Services will have to confirm with the applicable Deans/Directors or delegates that the user should be granted access to the requested fund, organization and payroll information before the request will be processed.

Once the request has been approved, the user will be contacted by e-mail: If the user does not already have a Banner login ID, IT will send the user a preliminary email when the first stage of set-up has been completed. The email will include the user's login ID and a temporary password. The user will need this information to log into FAST after receiving a second email from Financial Services when all stages of the set-up are finished. Keep email for future reference.

If the user already has a Banner login ID or has already received the preliminary e-mail from IT (see above), the user will receive an email from Financial Services after all stages of the set-up have been completed. The email will confirm the fund code(s), organization code(s) and payroll access that the user has been granted, and will also provide the link to log into FAST Finance Reporting and some basic start-up instructions.

  • Access to salary information (Y or N)

    • Note: Granting salary access in FAST allows users to view salary account balances and payroll details (i.e., breakdown of salary account balances by person, earning type and amounts). If no salary access is granted, the user will be able to view the salary accounts without getting the payroll details. Note also that salary access in FAST cannot be differentiated by specific Funds and Orgs. Whatever salary access is determined for a user, that access will apply to all Funds and Orgs the individual has access to.

  • FAST Modules:

    • FAST Finance - provides self-service decentralized access to financial information in order to help users monitor their financial/budget status. Viewing access is required.
    • FAST Webreq - self-service, web-based Purchase Requisition application that enables users to electronically enter and complete purchase requisitions online and submit them directly to Purchasing Services. Posting access is required.
    • FAST PCard - an application which provides secure decentralized access to manage Kwantlen's Purchasing Cards (PCards). Posting access is required.
    • FAST JV (Journal Voucher) - an application which provides secure decentralized access to manage GL adjustments. Posting access is required.
