Education and community service are two of Winston Liang’s greatest passions. Though today the knowledgeable restaurateur successfully operates Green Lettuce Restaurant Surrey — a popular local eatery specializing in creative Chinese and Indian cuisine — life was not always easy.

Due to financial barriers while growing up in India, even the most basic schooling was not always accessible. However, with support from his community, the path to higher learning was made possible and today Liang and his family are able to give the gift of education back through the Green Lettuce Restaurant Surrey Community Service Award.

“I am inspired by the many hard-working students who are sometimes holding down a job, yet still managing to selflessly make time for their community without compromising their grades,” said Liang. “They recognize the importance of giving back and making a difference without any expectations in return.”

Throughout the years, Liang says he has proudly watched Kwantlen Polytechnic University “grow, expand and continuously progress” and he hopes his support will encourage students to strive for their best.

“Kwantlen Polytechnic University has many talented and bright students who are maintaining exceptional grades while volunteering their precious time in our community. These are truly amazing individuals and through donor support and the many Kwantlen awards, I hope it is evident that our community truly believes in them.”
