Our university proudly takes its name from the Kwantlen First Nation. The spirit of the word kwantlen, which means “tireless runner”, is reflected in KPU’s motto:

KPU offers more than rewarding career opportunities. Employee physical and mental well-being is just as important. With access to fitness classes, outdoor walking paths, bike lockers, seasonal opportunities to purchase organic veggies from the KPU Farm Schools, flexible work options, health and well-being resources, including an Employee and Family Assistance Program, and much more, employees can achieve a rewarding and meaningful work-life balance.

All KPU employees have free access to the fitness centres on our Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Tech campuses, as well as a variety of at-home fitness resources.

As part of ensuring health and wellness for all of the KPU community, KPU is smoke-free and scent-aware.

Previously named one of Canada's greenest employers, KPU is committed to fostering environmental sustainability through our offerings, research and operations. Since 1994, KPU has increased its building footprint by 36 per cent, but reduced natural gas use by more than 11 per cent and electricity consumption by more than 13 per cent. KPU has been praised for its sustainable travel initiatives, including electric vehicle charging stations (Richmond campus), and, in partnership with the Kwantlen Student Association, an inter-campus shuttle that runs between its Langley, Cloverdale and Surrey campuses and discounted carpooling services. The University also offers a range of degrees and diplomas related to environmental sustainability.
