Jamshid received his B.A. in Economics from Tehran University in 1970. He then finished compulsory military service for two years before being admitted to the University of Waterloo in 1973. There he obtained his M.A. in Economics while taking courses with the Canadian Nobel laureate Professor Robert A. Mundell. Subsequently, he commenced studies towards an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Economics and International Business at UBC. There he completed the course requirements and his comprehensive exams and part of his unfinished dissertation.

Jamshid’s teaching career started as a visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan in 1980 and after two years of teaching, he joined Kwantlen College in August 1982. Presently, Jamshid is teaching the Foundations of Economics, Principles of Micro and Macroeconomics, Globalization in an Economic Framework and Topics in International Trade and Finance at KPU and Introduction to International Business at Langara. Jamshid is a member of the Western Economic Association International (WEAI) and the Canadian Economic Association (CEA). He reads the Canadian Journal of Economics, the Journal of Economic Inquiry, and the Journal of Contemporary Economic Policy with the intent of keeping himself current in his area of practice.

Jamshid has attended the B.C. Economics Articulations meetings, the B.C. Business Educators’ Articulation meetings, and the WEAI and CEA conferences. He has served as the Chair of his Department Articulation Committee and as a member of the Melville School of Business Curriculum Committee. He has been a mentor and a peer evaluator to a number of his colleagues. He has developed the official course outlines for Econ 2255- Globalization in an Economic Framework and Econ 4900-Special Topics in Economics and actively teaching them. He has participated in the graduation ceremonies at KPU. He has also been a guest speaker in Economics Cafe during the fall semester of 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Jamshid grew up in Tehran (Iran) before immigrating to Canada. He is happily married, has two children, now grown up.  He enjoys cooking, gardening, nature walks, and reading history and politics.
