KPU again named a B.C. Top Employer

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) For a third year in a row, KPU has been recognized as a Top Employer in B.C. for 2010.

MediaCorp Canada annually reviews the recruitment histories of over 75,000 employers throughout Canada, and subsequently invites over 16,000 employers. KPU has been selected as one of B.C.’s Top organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining quality employees.

“That KPU has been selected as one of B.C.’s best employers singles it out as a very special place to work. More than this, it is an indication of the quality of the people who work here, who together create a working environment supportive of everyone, and especially, of course, of our students,” said David W. Atkinson, President and Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The selection of the B.C.’s Top Employers is based on performance in several areas, including: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; vacation and time off; employee communications; training and skills development; and health, financial and family benefits.

“This award is continued recognition of the collective efforts made by the talented faculty and staff of KPU to support a workplace and learning environment that attracts and retains individuals who, through their commitment and efforts, support KPU to be an outstanding university,” commented Deborah Harkin, Vice-President Human Resources at KPU.

For over 28 years, KPU has continued to grow and evolve as a progressive undergraduate university, educating over 200,000 students to date. The KPU community is comprised of many diverse professions, such as instructors, librarians, counsellors, facility and technology personnel, and front-line student service staff, all who make many positive contributions to students and their communities through teaching, support services, volunteerism and community engagement.
