Kwantlen awards $35,000 in entrance scholarships to Delta students

KPU awards $35,000 in entrance scholarships to Delta students


(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) In recognition of outstanding academic standing and leadership, KPU awarded the following four Delta high school graduates with entrance scholarships: Cassandra Grant from Seaquam Secondary received the President’s Entrance Scholarship valued at $20,000; Melissa Sawatzky from Delta Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000; Gurvir Bains from North Delta Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000; and Natasha Kainth from North Delta Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000.

Upon receiving the Merit Entrance scholarship, Delta resident Melissa Sawatzky feels honoured to be named an award recipient, “I am extremely pleased to receive this award. It is truly an honour and I look forward to applying it to further my education at KPU.”

The KPU Leaders of Tomorrow awards are given to top academic high school students who will be pursuing full-time studies at KPU. President’s Entrance Scholarship and Merit Entrance Scholarships are each awarded to school districts in Metro Vancouver including Richmond, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Vancouver, Ridge Meadows or any other districts.

KPU Leaders of Tomorrow awards, which have been increased to $210,000 for 2010, are available to students who are enrolling at KPU for the first time. Academic excellence, program of study, community/school involvement and volunteer activities are some of the areas reviewed in the selection process. For more info, visit: kpu.ca/awards
