Kwantlen awards $35,000 in entrance scholarships to Surrey students


(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) In recognition of outstanding academic standing and leadership, Kwantlen Polytechnic University awarded the following four Surrey high school graduates with entrance scholarships: Bradley Clarke from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary received the President’s Entrance Scholarship valued at $20,000; Marissa Barrie from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000; Saini Supreet from École Panorama Ridge Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000; and Harmann Grewal from Princess Margret Secondary received the Merit Entrance Scholarship valued at $5,000.

“I was extremely excited when I learned I had received the Merit Entrance Scholarship. This scholarship will motivate me and help me achieve my educational endeavours. I would like to thank Kwantlen for offering me this award and allowing me to pursue my ambitions,” said Grewal, who is currently enrolled in the science program at Kwantlen.

The Kwantlen Leaders of Tomorrow awards are given to top academic high school students who will be pursuing full-time studies at Kwantlen. President’s Entrance Scholarship and Merit Entrance Scholarships are each awarded to school districts in Metro Vancouver including Richmond, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Vancouver, Ridge Meadows or any other districts.

Kwantlen Leaders of Tomorrow awards, which have been increased to $210,000 for 2010, are available to students who are enrolling at Kwantlen for the first time. Academic excellence, program of study, community/school involvement and volunteer activities are some of the areas reviewed in the selection process. For more info, visit: kwantlen.ca/awards
