Kwantlen Alumni Association elects chair and director for board, introduces four new directors

(METRO VANCOUVER, B.C.) Kwantlen Polytechnic University Alumni Association (KPUAA) elects Kristan Ash as chair of its Board of Directors. In addition, the board introduces four newly elected directors including Harpreet Bains, Marc Bains, Kelsey Filion and Careena Sharma. These four join returning board members Stuart Chase, vice chair; Dylan Watson, treasurer; Baltej Dhillon, past chair and directors Sandra Hoffman, Andrew Liew, Nicholas Pavlich and David Shapendonk in serving the association.

Kristan Ash is one of the founding members of the association and the director of operations for Healing Hands Rehabilitation Services Inc. Prior to this role, she was vice president of franchise and business development for Nurse Next Door Home Healthcare. Ash is active in her community through her involvement with the KPUAA, as a member of the You've Gotta Have Friends Initiative steering committee and as the chair of the fundraising committee of Cambridge Elementary Parents Advisory Council. Ash holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Kwantlen.

Harpreet Bains is a proud Kwantlen graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She believes it is vital that alumni forge together and gain strength in number, while maintaining a connection with the institution they came from and the community they will empower.

Marc Bains is a financial consultant at Investors Group Financial Services. Prior to his role at Investors Group, Marc Bains was an account manager at West X Business Solutions. Marc Bains holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Kwantlen and was recently elected a member of the alumni association board.

Kelsey Filion graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership and in 2008 with a General Business diploma. She has seven years of work experience in the service industry and currently works as a business development manager.

Careena Sharma graduated from Kwantlen with a bachelor’s degree in criminology, and is currently employed at Macdonald Realty Group Inc as a marketing coordinator. Sharma brings over seven years of work experience to the table, including two years of volunteer experience with the Canadian Cancer Society.
