BC’s Top Chamber Musicians to Perform Together in Langley

Langley, BC – (March 18, 2011) – In a unique appearance, three Kwantlen Polytechnic University music instructors are taking the stage April 2, 2011 to perform an extensive program, which includes compositions by Bach, Schubert, Doppler, Beethoven and Debussy.

Paolo Bortolussi (flute), Calvin Dyck (violin), and Jane Hayes (piano) are internationally known concert artists who frequently perform individually in BC’s top orchestras and chamber ensembles and have taught masterclasses and clinics at universities and music schools across Canada and abroad.

The trio are all Kwantlen Music Department faculty members and are dedicated to the education of young and emerging musicians.

“We’re really excited about having three musicians of such impressive calibre working with emerging performers, as well as practicing what they preach,” says Dr. Zdenek Skoumal, Kwantlen Music Department, Chair. “The event is a terrific opportunity for anyone passionate about chamber music and should not be missed.”

The concert is designed to inspire and engage the Lower Mainland’s community of chamber music lovers. As part of their residency at the Langley Community Music School, the ensemble will be leading student performance masterclasses during the afternoon that are open to the public.

“Musical Offerings” is being jointly presented by Kwantlen and the Langley Community Music School. The free concert will be held at 7:30pm on April 2 at the Rose Gellert Hall in the Langley Community Music School and the masterclasses run from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
