Kwantlen Demonstrates How to Outclass the Competition

SURREY, BC – (April 19, 2011) – Kwantlen Polytechnic University hosted a series of conferences April 5 – 8, designed to help local businesses Outclass their Competition. The conferences included a variety of business etiquette topics ranging from appearance and attire to communication and dining.

"Despite all the shifts in technology, most business is done on a one-on-one basis in person," comments Arthur Coren, dean of Kwantlen's School of Business. "Success often depends on interpersonal skills and it's essential that our graduates are able to present themselves well. It's another example of how we train our students to be ready to work and ready to lead."

The etiquette seminars, hosted by Cheryl Samusevich a corporate etiquette and international protocol consultant, were attended by more than 120 local businesses professionals.

According to Samusevich, "business etiquette is about: how you walk into a room; how you carry yourself; how assertive you are; the kind of eye contact you have; how you shake hands. It's what kind of visual image you give when you walk into that place of employment."

Proper business etiquette will give you that extra edge that will make the difference between you and another person competing for the same business. Let's face it, if your manners aren't impressive, you won't be either.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been serving the Metro Vancouver region for 30 years, and has opened doors to success for more than 200,000 people.
